Palestinians Don't Need Sidewalks
Theatre Royal, Castlemaine - Cinema (Castlemaine, VIC)
Thursday, 8 May 2025 7:00 pm
Dare to Struggle’s latest film “Palestinians Don’t Need Sidewalks” takes us on a
journey through the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem that, through
Palestinian eyes, profiles life living under Israeli occupation. Much of the film follows
a Jewish University professor, an ex-politician and a Palestinian Australian student
activist who were investigating Israel’s settler colonial apartheid society. Through
visiting Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem, Silwan and Nabi Samwil the film gives
an account of life under Israeli occupation prior to Hamas’s jail breakout.
In 2024 Dare to Struggle partnered with the “Hebron Human Rights Defenders” who
throughout the year gathered footage of Palestinian life and of Israeli aggression
against Palestinians. They also conducted interviews as a reflection of life for
Palestinians after October 7th. The film also looks at Australia’s complicity with
Israel, particularly through Australia’s commitment to reinvigorating its manufacturing
base by integrating into the US military supply chain.
This is a fundraising event proudly supported by the Theatre Royal and Free
Palestine Central Victoria. Funds raised will be used to support families in Gaza with
local Central Vic links, and the Hebron Human Rights Defenders group who are
featured in the film.

DURATION: 73 minutes
DIRECTORS: Jill Hickson & John Reynolds, in partnership with the Human Rights
